Artificial intelligence ( ai ) -supported livestock herd counting system

  • Roughly speaking, the system detects objects passing through the live camera image or previously captured video images and displays its information on how many objects have been recorded.
  • First of all, it draws a virtual line on the camera image reflected on the screen, this is the counting line. The count line creates a vertical count line on the screen if your animals move horizontally, from left to right or from right to left, and similarly, if your animals move from top to bottom or bottom to up according to the screenshot, it creates a horizontal count line. If the movement of the animals is diagonal according to the image reflected on the screen, that is, they move from the upper right to the lower left or vice versa, from the lower right to the upper left or vice versa, the counting line is created diagonally. In short, it creates a counting line exactly 90° according to the direction of movement of your animals.
  • The system detects the animal in the video or camera image reflected on the screen and draws a frame, checks whether the detected animal crosses the counting line and calculates the result of the count by increasing the number by one.
  • Since the system uses image processing technology together with artificial intelligence, its only basis is the image of your video. Distortions in the video image directly affect the counting. Important issues in the video image are criteria such as the quality of the image, the positions of the animals at the time of shooting, the lighting conditions of the environment, and the background image. Such criteria are some of the negative factors that can prevent accurate counting. In such cases, all negativities can be eliminated by reversing negative conditions such as changing the camera angle, increasing the camera resolution, video recording speed, increasing the ambient lighting, training the artificial intelligence according to your animals, or painting the background in the shooting area with a color opposite to your animals.
